Singapore opposition leader Pritam Singh found guilty of lying to parliament on two counts

SINGAPORE, Feb 17 — After a four-month trial, Workers’ Party (WP) leader Pritam Singh was found guilty on Monday of two charges related to lying to parliament.

The charges stemmed from Singh’s involvement in the false statement made by former WP Member of Parliament Raeesah Khan, who claimed in parliament that she had accompanied a sexual assault victim to the police station, according to a report published in Channel News Asia today.

The judge affirmed that Khan’s account, where she stated that Singh instructed her to “take to the grave” the fabricated story, was credible.

Singh’s sentencing was expected later on Monday.
